Looking Back with Gratitude, Looking Ahead with Purpose
A year-end message from Harvest House Executive Director, Rev. Dr. Daniel Crépault, Ph.D.
As we look back over the past year at Harvest House, a few key points stand out. We continued to keep the house full and offer as many men as possible the opportunity for sobriety and the chance to rebuild their lives. That’s always been at the core of what we do.
One important thing we accomplished was successfully transitioning our education program after the old GED track ended. We’re proud that we were one of the first organizations in Canada to offer the new CAEC exams as an approved testing center. That early transition gave us a head start and has been well received by the men in our program.
We’re still weathering the storm of losing our charitable status, but we’ve submitted our application for renewal and are well on our way. Thanks to the ongoing support of our donors and the community, we’ve been able to keep helping men change their lives during this transition.
Another highlight from this year has been the growth in our food distribution efforts. We’re now partnering with more organizations, and that’s allowed us to share even more of the generous food donations we receive, not just with the men in our program, but with the broader community as well.
Looking ahead, one exciting development is that we’re working with a healthcare app developer. This will help us stay connected with our program graduates after they leave, making it easier to continue offering support and resources as they transition back into the community.
We believe that’s going to strengthen their long-term success.
All in all, we’ve made important progress, and we’re looking forward to what’s next. We’re excited for the year ahead and grateful for everyone who’s been part of this journey.
Best wishes,
Rev. Dr. Daniel Crépault, Ph.D.
