Harvest House Ministries’ Update on Charitable Status

November 1, 2025

For more than 47 years, Harvest House Ministries of Ottawa-Carleton (“Harvest House Ministries”) has been a cornerstone of Ottawa’s recovery community, helping thousands of men overcome addiction and rebuild their lives with dignity, accountability, and purpose.

Harvest House Ministries acknowledges its charitable status was revoked by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) due to an administrative oversight concerning the filing of its annual return with CRA. There has been no financial wrongdoing or impropriety of any kind whatsoever. Once this issue came to our attention a few weeks back, Harvest House Ministries immediately retained legal counsel with experience in charity law and has been working closely with them to resolve the matter and re-apply for charitable status as quickly as possible.

While Harvest House Ministries is re-applying for charitable registration, we continue to operate as usual and to provide our regular services and supports to residents and community members. This administrative matter has had no impact on day-to-day operations, and our focus remains on saving lives and building futures, one recovery at a time.

In accordance with CRA requirements, Harvest House Ministries is not issuing charitable tax receipts at this time.

Harvest House Ministries has always been committed to transparency and accountability. Information about our Board of Directors, operations, and financial statements is publicly available on our website. These disclosures reflect Harvest House Ministries’ ongoing commitment to openness, good governance, and the public trust.
